Dr. Jim Walls

Minister to Youth

“Youth are at a wonderful place in life during which they take the biblical stories learned as children and begin to interpret them for and apply them to their personal journey.  The joy and challenge of youth ministry is to walk alongside them during this part of their journey—answering questions, offering suggestions, and sharing experiences.  But above all else, how we as adults model the faithful Christian journey has the greatest impact on the lives of our youth.”  Jim has been involved in the leadership of youth ministry at some level for more than 20 years.  A native of Greenville, SC, Jim has earned degrees from the University of South Carolina (BS), the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDIV), and Beeson Divinity School (DMIN).  Having completed doctoral work in the field of spiritual leadership, Jim continues to be passionate about youth ministry as well as a new found interest in what it means to be an effective minister of the gospel.  Jim and his wife, Susan, have two sons, Allen and Bryan.  Jim enjoys playing the guitar, gardening, and stamp collecting.  His favorite event each year is taking his family to a college football game at a new stadium.  Thus far, his family has seen a college game at South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia.  Jim has been on staff since September, 2001.
