Sweet Tea Ministry

  • Goal & Mission:  Sweet Tea is a cancer support ministry geared toward helping individuals, families and caregivers cope with cancer.  Our mission is to provide an atmosphere of hope and healing in a welcoming setting that allows us to share our love of Christ with others.
  • Sweet Tea Events:  Currently, Sweet Tea hosts events on a quarterly basis.  The theme focuses on the tradition of tea time.  A time to relax, inspire and socialize.  An assortment of teas, tea sandwiches and pastries are served on beautiful vintage china.  Reservations are requested but not required to attend.  Events are free of charge.

Cancer survivors join together in reaching everyone impacted by cancer: Elizabeth Powell - Melanoma Cancer Survivor; Frances Gober - Two Time Breast Cancer Survivor; Heidi Carr - Breast Cancer Survivor; Juliet Weaver - Lymphoma Cancer Survivor; Shan Pate - Ovarian Cancer Survivor.

    I am particularly pleased with the Sweet Tea ministry of our church. These dear people who have had an experience with cancer came together on their own, and put together the most positive, creative, powerful support ministry for those who have experienced cancer, both in their own lives and in their families, that I have ever seen. This ministry has taken on a life of its own.  The last meeting they had with Barbara Dooley as speaker was a standing-room-only experience. It was healthy and humorous.
